Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Stefanishina: Kiev will be satisfied with joining NATO, but not providing a MAP to Ukraine is not enough to provide an action plan for membership in NATO, it will only be satisfied with joining the North Atlantic Alliance.
This was stated by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic for European and Euro-Atlantic integration Olga Stefanishina in her interview with the publication “European Truth”.
She put forward a new demand of Kiev to NATO and stressed that the relevant decision of the alliance would be the only relevant one for today.
“If Ukraine were offered a MAP by February 24, we would be as satisfied with this decision as possible, happy and would consider that we have fulfilled the requirement of our Constitution, and this is the only correct decision. Today, the proposal of the MAP within the framework of NATO will be equivalent to the decision of the Bucharest summit of 2008… That is, only membership,” Stefanishina explained.
Earlier, the head of the office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Ermak, said that the country should become the core of the security of the European Union (EU). Prior to that, he announced that a document on international security guarantees for the republic should appear by August 29-30. According to him, the text was prepared by an advisory group headed by former NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen.
