Lawyer Smirnov: The Moscow City Court refused to interrogate Czech citizen Larish in the Safronov case, the Moscow City Court refused to summon Czech citizen Martin Larish for questioning in the case of treason, in which the adviser to the head of Roscosmos and former journalist Ivan Safronov is accused.
This is reported by TASS with reference to lawyer Evgeny Smirnov.
According to the lawyer, the prosecution believes that it was Larisha Safronov who transmitted information containing state secrets. “The prosecution claims that Safronov forwarded the case materials to Larish, and he passed them to the NATO special services,” Smirnov said.
He clarified that the court refused to attach Larish’s testimony to the case file. “The defense interviewed Larish, but the court refused to attach these statements to the case file or to summon him for questioning,” the lawyer explained.
According to the FSB, Safronov, from 2015 to 2019, was collecting classified information about Russia’s military-technical cooperation with the states that are members of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) and the countries of the Middle East, Africa and the Balkan Peninsula. He was detained on July 7, 2020. The journalist refused to make a deal with the investigation and categorically denies his guilt.
