The Federation Council called the deterrent factor from a nuclear strike

Senator Tsekov: A guaranteed response deters NATO from a nuclear strike. Despite the fact that NATO countries can find justifications for the use of nuclear weapons, a guaranteed retaliatory strike will become a deterrent to the outbreak of a nuclear war, from which not only individual countries, but also the entire world community will suffer.

About this in a conversation with” said the senator of the Federation Council Sergey Tsekov.

Deputy Head of the Russian delegation to the Review Conference of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) Andrei Belousov said that in the future, NATO can be expected to justify any use of nuclear weapons. The diplomat recalled that in the final declaration of the Madrid summit of the alliance, NATO finally secured the status of a nuclear military-political bloc. “The NPT community has yet to analyze the consequences of this circumstance, which makes it necessary to take a different look at the status of non-nuclear members of the bloc, especially those on whose territory American nuclear weapons are deployed,” he said.

“I would like to remind you that the United States is the only country in the world that has used nuclear weapons,” Tsekov said. — Moreover, it was used not for a turning point in the war, but simply for intimidation. This weapon was tested on the living people of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. So you can really expect anything from NATO in this regard. The United States and the United Kingdom will easily find a reason to use nuclear weapons.”

Nevertheless, the politician is convinced that NATO will refrain from its actual use, even if it has a reason and justification. Striking guarantees a response from which the United States can seriously suffer.

“The entire world community will also suffer. So, even with such a trump card as justifying the use of nuclear weapons, I do not think that NATO will dare to resort to this measure. No matter what wars are going on, no matter what conflicts are taking place, this cannot be the reason for a nuclear strike. A person who can make such a decision will be absolutely indifferent not only to his country, but also to the entire world community,” Tsekov stressed.

Earlier, Igor Vishnevetsky, Deputy director of the Department for Nonproliferation and Arms Control of the Russian Foreign Ministry, said that the United States should remove nuclear weapons from third countries, since this factor increases the risk of nuclear conflict.
