The military expert stated about the possible sabotage purpose of the landing of the Armed Forces of Ukraine at the Zaporozhye NPP
The landing of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), landed in the Zaporozhye region, could pursue two goals: to create conditions for radioactive contamination of the area, which would be an obstacle to the visit of the IAEA mission, and to seize the NPP, taking full control over it. About this in a conversation with Lenta.
The Russian army sank two barges with a tactical landing of the Armed Forces of Ukraine at Vodiane near the Zaporozhye NPP. This was stated to journalists on Thursday, September 1, by the official representative of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, Lieutenant General Igor Konashenkov. The representative of the department clarified that the enemy was detected around 7 a.m. a few kilometers from the NPP. According to Konashenkov, the Ukrainian military landed on two self-propelled barges that left Nikopol.
“The Ukrainian landing could have two goals,— Leonkov suggested. — The first one is sabotage. They could create conditions that would lead to radioactive contamination of the area: they would plant explosives, blow them up and leave. Then the IAEA, of course, would not be able to get into the infected territory.”

The expert considers the seizure and control over the territory of the NPP to be the second possible goal. According to him, there was information that after the first landing group there was also a second, larger in number, which could carry out the seizure of territory.
“Then all international communities would begin to put pressure on Russia, and Ukraine would gain full control. The fighting would not have been carried out then, and the IAEA mission would have found a huge amount of “evidence” that the blame for everything that is happening lies solely with Russia,” the interlocutor of
He explained that at the moment the Russian Federation has exhaustive evidence that the responsibility for the threat to the safety of the NPP lies with the APU, the same would be confirmed by the residents of Energodar. In addition, a large number of shell fragments and missiles used by the Ukrainian side remained on the territory.
“Experts from Rosatom, the staff of the NPP will probably be on the spot, they will show the gunners who were caught by the civil-military administration. The IAEA will receive a huge amount of evidence that it was Ukraine that exposed the whole world to radioactive danger. Naturally, Kiev does not want this,” Leonkov concluded.
Earlier, the Russian ministry reported that the APU is shelling the meeting place of the IAEA mission near the Zaporozhye NPP. The Defense Ministry explained that four shells exploded 400 meters from the first power unit.
