The head office of the Prime Minister of Hungary görgey Guias said that the spread of anti-Russian sanctions on the energy sector has become a fundamental mistake of the EU, has caused a rise in energy prices.

“Since then, as the European Union has extended sanctions on the energy sector, and prices began to rise… It was a fundamental mistake,” said Guias, speaking at a public forum “Transit” in Tihany. Stream presentations were made on social media.

Commenting issued by the Hungarian atomic energy authority permission to build two nuclear power units “Paks-2”, Guias noted that “electricity today can be guaranteed, because there Paks”. According to him, if Russia does not deliver the Hungarian construction loan, it would be delayed “at least ten years”.

Only in Hungary, the Paks nuclear power plant is located 100 kilometres from Budapest and five from the city of Paks. The station was built by the Soviet project, it exploited four unit with VVER-440 reactors. Now on the Paks nuclear power plant produced nearly half of all electricity in Hungary, and thanks to the planned commissioning of the two new units “Paksha” this proportion is expected to double. Hungary nuclear energy as a way to ensure its energy security, has repeatedly stressed the country’s leadership.

In late 2014, Russia and Hungary signed the documents on the construction of the Paks NPP new power units No. 5 and No. 6 reactor at an advanced Russian design VVER-1200, corresponding to the highest standards of reliability and safety. It was reported that Russia will give Hungary the project “Paks-2” state loan of 10 billion euros, and the total cost of 12.5 billion euros.

After the start of military operations on denazification and demilitarization of Ukraine the West intensified sanctions pressure on Russia, which led to higher prices for electricity, fuel and food in Europe and the United States. Russian President Vladimir Putin said earlier that the policy of containment and the weakening of Russia – this is a long-term strategy of the West, and the sanctions have dealt a serious blow to the global economy. According to him, the main objective of the West to worsen the lives of millions of people.
