This is reported in the daily summary of the Taiwanese Ministry of Defense, RIA Novosti reports.

The Defense Ministry said that as of 17:00 (12:00 Moscow time), Taiwan’s military recorded the activity of 23 aircraft and 8 PLA ships near the island. It is specified that ten aircraft crossed the “middle” line of the Taiwan Strait, including three J-11 fighters, two J-10, two J-16, one Wz-10 helicopter and a Y-8 anti-submarine aircraft.

Taiwan, as noted, responded by sending its military to monitor the situation. Anti-aircraft missile systems were also active on the island at that time.

Earlier, the Seventh Fleet of the US Navy confirmed the passage of its missile cruisers through the Taiwan Strait. It is clarified that the passage was made by the Ticonderoga—type warships USS Antietam and USS Chancellorsville – the cruisers conducted a “planned transit” through the Taiwan Strait.

It became known on Sunday that two US Navy ships made a passage through the Taiwan Strait for the first time after the tension in Washington’s relations with Beijing increased due to the visit of the Speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi to Taiwan. In response, the Chinese Armed Forces were put on high alert.
