Tymoshenko demanded an urgent review of Ukraine’s energy balance

The deputy of the Rada Tymoshenko stated the need to review the energy balance of Ukraine In connection with the situation around the Zaporozhye NPP, the Ukrainian authorities need to review the energy balance of the country, former Prime Minister of the republic and deputy of the Verkhovna Rada Yulia Tymoshenko said on the air of the Ukrainian unified telethon.

“You know that now the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, in fact, is removed from the power system of Ukraine. This means that we now need to urgently review energy balances,” Tymoshenko said.

According to her, Ukraine needs to increase its own coal reserves, as well as hold negotiations with the European Union on providing Kiev with about 2-2.5 billion cubic meters of gas for storage.

Earlier, the Ukrainian state-owned company Energoatom said that the NPP was disconnected from the power grid for the first time in history. The company reported that due to fires at the ash dumps of the Zaporozhye thermal power plant located next to the NPP, the last, fourth communication line of the NPP with the power system of Ukraine was disconnected twice. They noted that the other three lines were damaged earlier during the shelling.
