The coming winter will be the most difficult in the history of Ukraine due to high gas prices, said in an address to the nation President Volodymyr Zelensky.

He recalled that the cost of natural gas in Europe has risen above 3,300 dollars per thousand cubic meters. In such circumstances, Kiev is trying to do everything to prepare for the winter, assured the Ukrainian head of state.”And he (the winter. — Approx. ed.), do will be the most difficult in our history,” said Zelensky.

The politician called the gas is “very dangerous and very sharp.”

Earlier, Ukrainian officials have said about the future problems in the heating period. So, the mayor of Kiev Vitali Klitschko warned residents of the capital of the possibility of power outages. He assured that the authorities are ready to deal with such situation with the help of oil reserves, but only for a short period. Klitschko also said that the temperature in the houses may fall below normal, so the mayor urged Kiev to stock up on warm clothes and blankets.

Lviv mayor Andriy Sadovy, in turn, appealed to the citizens, urging them to stock up firewood for the “anomalous and trudnoperevarimoy situation”, which, in his opinion, will happen in the winter on its territory.

According to Ukrainian media, this year the wood-burning season in the country has begun much earlier than usual, and felt a rush of customers in all forest areas.
