Zelensky held talks with Biden

Zelensky thanked Biden for financial assistance and support in the field of security. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky held talks with his American counterpart Joe Biden, during which he thanked him for financial assistance and support of Kiev in the field of security.

The Ukrainian leader announced this on Twitter.

“I had a wonderful conversation with the US president. I thanked him for the unwavering support of the United States to the Ukrainian people — financially and in the field of security,” Zelensky wrote.

The parties also discussed further steps to resolve the situation in Ukraine.

On August 24, Biden announced that the United States would provide the largest package of military assistance to the Ukrainian state in the amount of $ 2.98 billion. The money received from Washington, Kiev will be able to purchase air defense systems, artillery weapons and ammunition, electronic warfare systems in order to “continue to defend itself in the long term.”

According to Bloomberg, as part of the new package of military assistance, the United States will send Ukraine six NASAMS anti-aircraft missile systems (SAMs) and 300,000 artillery and mortar shells. Among other things, Ukraine will receive financial resources for military training.
