The White House announced “additional work” to reduce gas supplies from Russia to Europesuget prices for gas in Europe:
The United States continues to look for ways to increase LNG supplies to Europe to reduce natural gas supplies from Russia, there is “additional work” to be done in this direction. This statement was made by the official representative of the White House, Karin Jean-Pierre, quoted by RIA Novosti.
Jean-Pierre noted that the United States is seeking to reduce the region’s dependence on Russian gas imports. According to her, Washington has already made progress on this issue.
“Since March, natural gas supplies to Europe have increased by 84 percent compared to 2021. At the same time, the share of American supplies has tripled. In fact, gas supplies to Europe have increased by 20 billion cubic meters since March compared to the previous year, which already exceeds the volumes promised by President Biden,” she said at a briefing.
At the same time, the White House representative did not agree with the forecast of a number of experts that the approaching winter and the shortage of gas in European storage facilities could lead to a split in the unity of Western countries.
“We are confident that this union, this partnership will continue to exist. We also intend to provide our partners in Ukraine with the necessary means to continue the struggle for its sovereignty,” she assured.
Earlier it was reported that gas prices at the European TTF hub approached $ 3,500 per thousand cubic meters. In addition, it became known that Norway refused to lower gas prices for Europe. The Minister of Oil and Energy of the Kingdom, Terje Osland, explained this by saying that oil companies operating on the Norwegian continental shelf operate on a commercial basis.
