The US called Turkey a big threat

US Senator Menendez called Turkey a big threat in the Eastern Mediterranean Plotrussia and NATO:

Chairman of the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee Robert Menendez called Turkey the biggest threat in the Eastern Mediterranean. This is reported by “Kathimerini”.

The US senator included Turkey among the main challenges facing the international community, along with China, Russia and climate change.

According to him, despite the fact that Turkey is a NATO ally, the country challenges the sovereignty of Greece with “provocative flights in the Aegean Sea.” He called the violation of airspace by fighters unacceptable behavior for any state.

Menendez also declared Turkey’s “illegal occupation” of Cyprus. “These are not the actions of a democratic country, and as for me, I don’t think they should be provided with upgraded weapons systems from the United States,” he added.

Menendez accused Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of pursuing a divisive policy both in Eastern Europe and in the South Caucasus and in Europe.

Earlier, Greece published 16 maps showing Turkey’s illegal actions against Greek sovereignty in the Aegean Sea. According to the ministry’s statement, the maps show in detail “the scale of Turkish revisionism aimed at changing the status quo, violating international law and international maritime law, as well as threatening the peace, security and stability of the region.”
