Kyodo: The Japanese cabinet has allocated $1.8 million for the state funeral of former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, the defense of former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe will cost the Japanese government almost two million dollars.

According to the agency, on August 26, the Cabinet of Ministers of Japan approved the allocation of 250 million yen ($ 1.8 million) for these purposes. This amount will include the costs of renting the Budokan Hall in Tokyo and organizing precautions against COVID-19. A maximum of 6,400 people are expected to attend the politician’s funeral.
Abe’s state funeral will be held on September 27 in Tokyo, at the Budokan Arena and Kitanomaru Park. He will become the second former prime minister in the post-war period, after whose death a state funeral will be held.
The former Prime Minister of Japan died in hospital after an assassination attempt at an election event in the city of Nera on July 8. A former sailor of the Japan Self-Defense Forces, 41-year-old Tetsuya Yamagami approached the politician from behind and shot him with a shotgun.
Later, he explained that Abe was allegedly connected with a certain “group of people”, because of which his family had serious financial problems.
