The first “tea” train left Wuhan for Moscow

The first train from 50 containers in the new project “Special tea export the train to Russia” went on Friday from the Wuhan city of Hubei province in Moscow, it is planned that “tea” train from Wuhan to Russia will run on a regular basis, said on Saturday the trade representation of Russia in China.”The twenty-sixth of August from Wuhan to Moscow were sent to the first train of the 50 containers (about 1 thousand tons) in the new project “Special tea export the train to Russia”, – stated in the message in the official Telegram channel of a trade mission.

It is noted that at the ceremony of sending the first “tea” trains from Wuhan was attended by the Deputy head of the people’s government of Hubei province, Jan dated back to the persons in charge of the Ministry of agriculture and rural Affairs of China, representatives of business circles of the region.

Trade representative of Russia in China Alexey Dakhnovsky in his greeting to the participants of the ceremony said that “Wuhan has made a great contribution to the emergence of a tradition of tea drinking in Russia in the mid-18th century, as the city was the centre of the tea trade between Russia and China.”

“In those old days more than 80% of the volume of trade between our two countries accounted for tea, so the road that went merchants, called the Great tea way,” recalled Dakhnovsky and wished success to the project.

It is planned that “tea” train from Wuhan to Russia will run on a regular basis.
