WARSAW, Aug 23 – RIA Novosti. The biggest Polish manufacturer of fertilizers Azoty has suspended a number of industries in conjunction with a high natural gas prices, it said in a statement.

“Due to record-high prices for natural gas, the main raw material used in the production of the group Azoty, the company made the decision on temporary suspension since August 23, 2022 installation for the production of nitrogen fertilizers, caprolactam and polyamide 6”, – stated in the message.

In Azoty explained that in recent times on the European exchanges are “extraordinary, historically high prices for natural gas,” which increased in the last half of the year with 72 euros per MW/h 22 February to 276 euros per MWh August 22.

The company continued production of catalysts, polyamide casings, humic acids, thermoplastic starch and concentrated nitric acid.

It is noted that during the suspension of the production units will be implemented investment and maintenance processes, including the previously planned overhaul of polyamide installations.

In Azoty noted that the current situation in the natural gas market, “a unique, wholly independent from the company and was not predictable.” The company said it is constantly “monitors the level of raw material prices and profitability of production processes, and on this basis will make further business decisions.”
